Vanessa Cook
Manager Business Registries Investigations & Compliance, Market Integrity
Ministry of Business, Innovation and Employment NZ
Vanessa Cook is the manager of the Ministry of Business, Innovation and Employment’s Business Registries Investigations and Compliance team. She has over 25 years’ investigative experience and has been in her current role since 2019.
As a Detective in the NZ Police she investigated organised crime and wanted to know what enabled the offending. This meant looking at the offences that were being committed and understanding how regulatory systems were being exploited to allow crimes to be committed.
She’s brought this view of tackling offending into her current role and enjoys the challenge of convincing others that working collaboratively isn’t as hard as we sometimes make it out to be.
